A Brief Overview of David Gough

A Gothic Shadows Information Page

If you read what David says of himself in his biographical notes, the gist is that Gough himself traveled through the looking glass, in search of a white rabbit, but found Heironymous Bosch instead.

Born in Liverpool, England, he's transplanted himself to San Diego, California. He's been a professional painter since 1995 and prefers acrylics to oils, because he hasn't the patience for oils to dry.

To sum it up: "Utilizing deep symbolism, a sense of mortality, in a sometimes surreal and beautiful urban decayed setting, his work interweaves personal history, combining mystic madness, magical creatures and the dark fantastique, and seeks to find beauty in the darkest places."

So it's usually beautiful, sometimes humorous, often disturbing, but always thought-provoking (in a "Now, what is that supposed to mean?" sense).

Be sure to see all the Gough prints we have, you'll probably find several that you can relate to.
